Sprite/Midget 5-Speed Kit
Installation Instructions
(abridged)

(Detailed instructions furnished with kits is 11 pages, with how-to-hints and photos. Reference to a Spridget service manual is also recommended for standard procedures.)

1. Remove and separate engine and transmission.
2. Remove steel plate from rear of the engine and replace it with the aluminum adapter plate.
3. Prepare Datsun transmission.
   1. Shorten gearshift lever & re-thread
   2. Bolt on the rear mount furnished, the slave cylinder, and install throwout bearing.
   3. Cut clearance for Spridget starter drive (2" hole saw recommended)
   4. Cut clearance points on bellhousing (grinder or file)
4. Remove the contact pad for the carbon T.O. bearing from the stock clutch pressure plate.
5. Install the clutch disc furnished, along with the stock pressure plate
6. Bolt transmission to engine using bolts furnished.
7. Install driveshaft yoke onto driveshaft in place of the stock yoke. This involves only installing a U-joint. Yoke with a u-joint is furnished.
8. Install engine and transmission into car (as with stock units)
9. Plumb hydraulic clutch. Bleed the clutch fluid.
10. Adjust slave cylinder pushrod.
11. Check work and test drive.
